I. Introduction
- Purpose of Hebrews: To show the superiority of Christ and the new covenant over all that came before.
- Chapter Focus: Jesus Christ is greater than the prophets and the angels — He is the final and full revelation of God.
- A. God Spoke in Many Ways Before (v.1): God’s revelation was progressive and partial throughout the Old Testament.
- B. God Has Now Spoken Through His Son (v.2): Christ as Heir of all things and Creator of the universe.
- C. The Glory and Nature of the Son (v.3): Christ sustains all things by His powerful word, purged our sins, and sat down at God’s right hand.
- A. Christ’s Exalted Name (v.4–5): Jesus is the begotten Son, not a created being.
- B. Angels Worship Him (v.6): Angels are servants; the Son is worshiped.
- C. Angels Are Servants, Christ Is Sovereign (v.7–9): The Son’s throne is forever.
- D. The Eternal Creator (v.10–12): Christ is eternal and unchanging.
- E. The Exalted Position of the Son (v.13–14): Christ reigns supreme; angels serve believers.
